Golfing from the Heart: 2018 Dime Charitable Golf Outing
September 25, 2018 |
For some, golfing is both a passion and an obsession, pursuing straight drives, sure putts and below par scores. For others, it’s an opportunity to enjoy a day away from the busyness of life, walking the greens under sunny skies and enjoying the company of friends, clients or colleagues.
On Monday, July 30, golfing was a matter of the heart at the 2018 Dime Charitable Golf Outing as 92 registered golfers and 39 companies joined together to help raise $60,000 for charity. The net proceeds from this year’s event went entirely to benefit Heart 9/11. 2018 marked the 7th year of Dime’s annual fundraising golf event at The Village Club at Lake Success.
Since 2012, Dime has raised over $460,000 for local community organizations. “We’re fortunate to have a significant outpouring of support each year from our friends and business partners,” remarked Kenneth J. Mahon, Dime President and Chief Executive Officer.
Heart 9/11 is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit disaster relief organization committed to a mission of rebuilding communities and rebuilding lives of individuals coping with disasters and related trauma. “This is our third year involved with this event and Dime,” exclaimed Bill Keegan, Founder and President, Heart 9/11. “I couldn’t be prouder to accept a check from an organization like Dime, who makes a clear investment in the communities where many of us work and live.”
“We had an enjoyable day of golfing and it was truly satisfying raising money to help great organizations such as Heart 9/11,” reflected Ken Mahon. “We love Heart 9/11,” he added. “They’re really making a difference in our communities.”
